how to start and stop working

to be repeated and continued (all over again).


we had a splendid weekend. really. went out on friday (the usual, though there's footage: www.thunda.com/show/nobranding/2008/0718/1204/611), did nothing on saturday, went hiking on sunday. which was an impressive example of the volatility of the weather around the western cape's mountains - we left cape town in bright sunshine, crossed over to simon's town in blurry mist and arrived on the mountains around simon's town in bright sunshine again. NO leopards crossing (despite signs indicating so) and NO penguins crossing either. the zoological wonders of south africa i've been exposed to so far remain limited to a dead springbock, some cockroaches and a few hummingbirds on the mountain top.




but back to the hike: the boys went bouldering, arethe went sunbathing, aire and i tried to hike down to a dam which looked very close from the top and was not at all in reality. the walking part however was very satisfying, after all we were searching for paths in a desert-like scenario. after roughly 1 hour we neither found a proper path nor were able to trace were we'd come from, thanks to the mist rolling over the mountain top. eventually we made our way back, and found the tennisball that went missing when rusta, greg's dog, didn't bring it back after it had been thrown to him. what a success!!!

the two office days of this week have accordingly also almost passed. why two? because emg is having their annual strategic planning which we won't be attending. consequently also the office remains closed. after the consultant for the pricing study didn't have time for today's scheduled meeting, also this matter is still put on hold, just as the surveys are. ah well, africa. after all we started figuring out which kind of work we'd need to do for the pricing study and it's finally becoming a bit clearer - and although it seems to be quite an ambitious project, involving several field visits, it might even move into the feasibility range. but for now - no work, more driving around the country.
